Shape Our Immediate Needs

Why Donate?
Resilience & Stability
We don’t need to explain the times we’re living in; it’s incredibly uncertain and becoming increasingly so day-by-day. This is especially so for our most vulnerable members of society, which include foster kitties and returning citizens.
Aside from our immediate needs, direct donations allow us to maintain long term organizational sustainability and ensure that operations can continue regardless of what may come.
Operational Efficiency
Financial donations are the most immediate, and often impactful, way to keep our daily operations running smoothly. Because financial donations are completely flexible, it gives us the freedom to respond to emergencies the moment they happen.
Whether it’s an urgent vet bill, daily program costs, or unexpected expenses, your support keeps us agile and ready to help without any delays.
Tax Deductible
Bow Tie Panther is a 501©3 organization, which means the IRS rewards charitable giving by allowing you to write off eligible contributions, which reduces your overall taxable income.
Such organizations are legally required to file financial reports and maintain a public-benefit mission, ensuring your money is monitored and spent responsibly.
You may also donate via venmo, cashapp, or paypal as well and we will send you a donation receipt letter (donations of $20 USD or more) via the method of your choice. Anyone earning income from a US company should be able to make a tax deductible donation.

Frequently Asked Questions

If it is a cash contribution, yes! We are a 501©3 nonprofit, which means all cash donations are tax deductible. The rules surrounding this has changed in 2026, so we do advise you to speak with a tax specialist about tax-deductible donations to charities in general.

100% of the money goes directly back into the organization. We are a 501©3 organization and do not seek any profits in our operations. Being an animal organization, the welfare of the cats are our priority so we must ensure that there are sufficient funds for their care at all times. Currently, our efforts are focused on developing a sustainable operational budget and hosting community events. Some funds will go into reimbursement for costs after we became a nonprofit.

No, unfortunately the IRS does not allow labor donated to be written off. However, any expenses incurred can be considered a donation. This includes gas and milage used to complete volunteer tasks, costs for volunteer or foster work, etc. Please note that this would be an itemized donation and we advise you to speak to a tax professional for clarity. Please also refer to IRS Topic no. 506, Charitable Contributions on the IRS website for more information.

Yes, we do! We are grateful for the many wonderful donations, but due to our space constraints we are limited in what we can accept at this time. Please email info@bowtiepanther.org with images of any items or other in-kind donations you are interested in providing. Please note that the IRS has specific rules about in-kind donations and tax-deductions, so it’s best to speak with an accounting specialist. You can find more information under IRS Topic no. 506, Charitable Contributions as well.

Yes! Absolutely, but please note that this means that your donation is not tax deductible according to the IRS. They are very clear that the funds must be directly in our possession in order for us to write your a letter for your tax write-off. You are able to donate and specify that you want the donation to be used only for a specific purpose. We do have a fund at Nob Hill Cat Clinic and we also frequent Vets in Vans when they are in Berkeley, CA. Please email us if you would like to explore this option!
